Here are some pics I took from the 2006 VW Calssic in Irvine CA. If you have never been it's a Must do for a true VW enthusiast. I hear that this year they had to stop letting cars in to the show. Some of my favorite cars were the Red doublecab, The turboed notch, Darrel Bakers 58 Ragtop, Scott Moses 67 Vert,. It was also cool to see a car from back in the day. Its the red chopped bug pictured below. It was featured in one of my first & favorite mags. Hot VW's Spring 1989 "how to customize your VW". It was also good to see the Pinks / Cal-look.com drag bug. (see T Brothers sticker on fenders) If you like rod-syle VW's than probably the nicest example came down from Canada. Talk about nice. The background pic is the Parking lot at the host hotel. Just hanging out in the parking lot is some of coolest pre-show build up.

 

I didnt show my bus this year. It was on display in the TMI booth. I was able to get in to the show at about 6:45. It was nice to get in before the crowd cruise around talking to people. Scamming through the swapmeet early. looking for 57 bus parts for my new panel project. The 2nd to the last bus is an all original un restored bus. That was NICE. Check uot the 17" wheels on the black & white bus. The beetle safari windows are too cool. The ghia / oval was pretty unique.
